Bachelor of Science Degree Requirements

Major Requirements (68 units)


The following core program courses are required of all candidates for this degree. Additional required courses dependent upon the selected emphasis area.

Other Degree Requirements


In addition to the major program requirements, every student must also complete the University’s baccalaureate degree requirements such as:

  • American Government and Institutions (PLSI 2 )
  • General Education Requirements (48 units)
  • Multicultural and International (MI)
  • Upper-division Writing
  • Sufficient Elective Units to Meet Required Total Units (varies); it is recommended that units in this area be utilized to complete a second major or minor.

Advising Notes


  1. CR/NC grading is not permitted in the recreation administration major with the exceptions of REC 74 , REC 75 , REC 82 , REC 83 , REC 84 , REC 86 , REC 87 , REC 88 ; RA 115 , and RA 192T .
  2. General Education and elective units may be used toward a minor (see departmental minor below). Consult the appropriate department chair, program coordinator, or faculty advisor for further information.
  3. Students are advised to take HHS 116W  to fulfill the Upper-Division Writing Skills requirement.
  4. All Recreation Administration courses used in the major must be completed with a grade of C or higher.
  5. Students are strongly encouraged to seek academic advising every semester to ensure eligibility for certification.
  6. Students should be prepared to incur additional costs related to completion of fieldwork and practicum assignments including background check fees and transportation to clinical facilities. Specific immunizations may be required.
