The mission of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction is the preparation and continuing education of PreK-12 educators, particularly classroom teachers. Coursework and field experiences are designed to prepare teachers who are reflective thinkers, problem solvers, and decision makers to meet the challenges of teaching in a rapidly changing world characterized by social, economic, and cultural/linguistic diversity, as well as to become educational specialists and leaders through our graduate and advanced certificate programs.
For credential candidates, supervised field experiences combined with instructional planning and evaluation opportunities provide the foundation for productive and culturally-responsive teaching.
Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Program:
The Multiple Subject ECE Bilingual Authorization Program is housed in both the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) and Literacy, Early, Bilingual and Special Education (LEBSE).
Single Subject Teaching Credential Program:
The Single Subject Teaching Credential Program is housed in both the Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) and Literacy, Early, Bilingual and Special Education (LEBSE).
