MUSIC 40 - Theory and Literature I

Prerequisite: Pre-Music majors only
Fundamentals of music: notation, scales, intervals, keys, triads, concepts of mode and meter, principles of melody writing, and species counterpoint in two voices. Analysis of appropriate examples from musical literature. Use of music notation software.
