MCJ 175 - Stereotypes and Representation in Media GE Area/Graduation Requirement: GE Integration ID
Prerequisite: GE Foundation, Breadth D and PLSI 2 Examines relationships between media and social constructions, including analyses of contemporary and historical portrayals of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, economic class, and physical conditions. Explores strategies for recognizing cultural ramifications of reinforced stereotypes such as audience interpretations, media literacy, and advocacy.
