The Department of Geography and City and Regional Planning

The Geography Department offers a certificate of special study in Geographic Information Systems. This 12-unit program consists of four required courses. The certificate is designed for students seeking employment opportunities, those considering post-baccalaureate studies, and professionals who wish to further their careers in GIS.

GEOG 141 - GIS I: Data Display and Manipulation Units: 3
GEOG 143 - GIS III: Spatial Analysis and Modeling Units: 3
GEOG 152 - Remote Sensing I: Intro to Remote Sensing of Environment Units: 3
GEOG 140 - Quantitative Methods and Spatial Statistics Units: 3

Advising Notes

Open to all students and professionals
A grade of C or better must be earned in each course to receive the certificate
ECE 178 sould be substituted for GEOG 140 for Earth and Environmental Sciences majors
