In addition to the major program requirements, every student must also complete the University’s baccalaureate degree requirements such as:

  • American Government and Institutions (PLSI 2 )
  • General Education  Requirements (43 units) - Geomatics Engineering majors are exempt from G.E. Areas 1B and 3A
  • Additional University Graduation Requirements  (9 units) - Geomatics Engineering  majors are exempt from this requirement
  • Upper-Division Writing  Requirement
  • Sufficient Elective Units to Meet Required Total Units (varies); it is recommended that units in this area be utilized to complete a second major or minor.

*General Education, Additional University Graduation Requirements, and Upper-division Writing courses can be double counted with major requirements. These courses include MATH 75  (Area 2), PHYS 4A  (Area 5A), PHIL 1  or PHIL 10  (Area 3B), GME 151  (Area UD 2/UD 5), PHIL 120  (Area UD 3), and CE 161  (Area UD 4). See advisor for details.

Advising Notes


  1. Courses in engineering, mathematics, the physical sciences, and mandatory technical courses taken CR/NC are not counted toward fulfillment of degree requirements in geomatics engineering.
  2. All geomatics engineering students must consult with their academic advisors at least once each year.
  3. All upper-division engineering courses should be completed with an average grade of at least a C.
