The Department of Educational Leadership
Program Description. The Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership and Administration prepares students for a Master of Arts and a California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential.
Admission Requirements. The Master of Arts and California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program require the following documentation: application to the CSD and Educational Leadership program, 2.75 GPA, transcript of undergraduate degree and credential completion, a Clear or life California teaching credential, California designated subjects teaching credential in adult education, career technical education, vocational education or special subjects, pupil personnel services, health services for school nurse, teacher librarian services, or speech-language pathology or clinical or rehabilitative services, two letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, undergraduate writing competency fulfillment, and resume that demonstrates at least 3.5 years of experience in the school setting.

Culminating Experience Requirements (4 units)
- EAD 298 - Project Units: 4 - A project that is a significant undertaking appropriate to the fine and applied arts or to professional fields. It evidences originality and independent thinking, appropriate form and organization, and a rationale. It is described and summarized in a written abstract that includes the project’s significance, objectives, methodology and a conclusion or recommendation. An oral defense of the project may be required, or
- EAD 299 - Thesis Units: 4 - A thesis is the written product of a systematic study of a significant problem. It identifies the problem, states the major assumptions. explains the significance of the undertaking, sets forth the sources for and methods of gathering information, analyzes the data, and offers a conclusion or recommendation. The finished product evidences originality, critical and independent thinking, appropriate organization and format, and thorough documentation. Normally, an oral defense of the thesis is required.
Total: 30 Units
* ERE 153 or an approved equivalent is a prerequisite for ERE 244 .
** Students meet the Graduate Writing Requirement by passing the writing component of ERE 244 .
Note: no more than 6 units of coursework taken for CR/NC only may be applied toward degree requirements.
