Chinese, B.A.


The Department of Linguistics  

The B.A. in Chinese* is a CSU Consortium Degree with San Francisco State (SFS) that provides an integrated curriculum in Chinese language, linguistics, literature, and culture, progressing from elementary to intermediate or advanced proficiency. Students will develop strong communication skills in Mandarin Chinese and deep linguistic and cultural understanding through coursework, study abroad, and community engagement. The program combines language study with interdisciplinary perspectives, such as linguistics, language learning/teaching, business, education, and international studies, to prepare graduates for diverse careers and graduate programs. At Fresno State, the major aligns with the university’s mission to educate globally competent, culturally aware leaders serving California’s Central Valley and beyond.

*The Bachelor of Arts in Chinese degree is currently a Pilot Program.
