Broadcast and Digital Journalism, Minor


Students in the Broadcast and Digital Journalism minor will learn how to produce responsible news while maintaining strong ethical standards. Students will learn storytelling through video, audio, and powerful writing including producing content for television, radio, and digital platforms in English and Spanish. Students who minor in Broadcast and Digital journalism are now reporters, producers, and anchors at local and national radio and television stations and digital and online news publications.

The Minor in Broadcast and Digital Journalism is an 18 to 19-unit program, with at least 12 upper-division units taken in residence. Students in the minor must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 overall, with a C or better in the MCJ minor classes. MCJ majors in options other than Broadcast and Digital Journalism will not be required to take MCJ 2, as they will have already completed this course. Courses taken for the minor may count toward fulfilling General Education requirements but not toward fulfilling the student’s major requirements.

  • CR/NC grading is not permitted in a minor.
