Classical Languages, Certificate of Special Study

The Certificate of Special Study in Classical Languages offers three tracks: Latin, Ancient Greek and Classics (Latin and Ancient Greek). Students must have completed the introductory 1A and 1B courses for Latin or Ancient Greek, which each fulfill a requisite GE or university graduation requirement.

Classical Languages Certificate Requirements

There are three tracks to choose from:

Track 1: Latin

Required Course for Track 1 (repeatable for a maximum of 12 units.)

LATIN 131T - Latin Literature Units: 3 (for 12 units)

Track 2: Ancient Greek

Required Course for Track 2 (repeatable for a maximum of 12 units.)

GRK 131T - Greek Literature Units: 3 (for 12 units)

Track 3: Classics

Required Courses for Track 3 each repeatable for a maximum of 6 units.

GRK 131T - Greek Literature Units: 3 (up to 6 units)
LATIN 131T - Latin Literature Units: 3 (up to 6 units)

Total Units: 12

Note: Topic courses with the same subject and catalog number may be repeated; however, students will not receive credit for enrolling in the same topic title more than once.
