Certificate of Advanced Study in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This certificate is designed to train participants in the theory and practice of TESOL, with application to a wide variety of teaching circumstances. In addition to prerequisites (LING 100 or LING 10 or LING 11 , as well as LING 141 ), the required courses are LING 235 , LING 244 , LING 271 , and the choice of one additional course from the following options: LING 241S , LING 250 , and LING 265 . Students must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better in the program.

LING 235 - Teaching the Four Language Skills Units: 3
LING 244 - Curriculum Design and Classroom Evaluation Units: 3
LING 271 - Graduate Practicum in TESOL Units: 3
Choose one course from the following options:
LING 241S - Seminar in TESOL/SLAT Units: 3
LING 250 - Graduate Seminar in Teacher Performance and Classroom Management Units: 3
LING 265 - Seminar in Language Acquisition Units: 3
