Single Subject Credential - Theatre


This is a state-approved subject matter preparation program for the Single Subject Teaching Credential. It authorizes students to teach theatre or drama. 

After completing an undergraduate degree in Theater Education, to receive a teaching certificate, students must complete the single subject  redential in theatre which typically takes an additional year. 

Students can apply to the credential program after completing 90 or more units as undergraduates. Once accepted, they can begin to take credential courses simultaneously as they complete their undergraduate degree. For more information contact the Department of Theatre and Dance .

Requirements for a Preliminary Single Subject Credential


The Kremen School of Education offers the Preliminary Single Subject Credential in cooperation with the Theatre department. The theater department is responsible for developing subject matter competency; the Kremen School of Education is primarily responsible for developing professional education competency.

Total (40 units)


Note: Teacher candidates must earn a GPA of 3.0 with a C or better, or a CR (Credit), on all professional preparation courses to be recommended for the credential.
