In addition to the major program requirements, every student must also complete the University’s baccalaureate degree requirements such as:
- American Government and Institutions (PLSI 2 )
- General Education Requirements (48 units) - Engineering majors are exempt from G.E. Areas A3, C1, the third C1/C2, E, and IC
- Multicultural and International (MI) - Computer Engineering majors are exempt from the MI requirement
- Upper-division Writing
- Sufficient Elective Units to Meet Required Total Units (varies); it is recommended that units in this area be utilized to complete a second major or minor.

Advising Notes
- Courses in mathematics, the physical sciences, or engineering taken CR/NC are not counted toward fulfillment of degree requirements in computer engineering.
- Computer engineering majors might consider a math minor. (See faculty advisor for details.)
- All computer engineering students must consult with their academic advisor at least once each year.
- ENGR 101 may be taken instead of MATH 81 .
- The prerequisites for ECE 186A are ECE 124 , ECE 128 , ECE 128L , ECE 141 , ECE 146 , ECE 176 and one course taken concurrently from ECE 174 or ECE 178 .
- Students must enroll in and complete ENGR 1 and ECE 1 during the first two semesters of attendance at Fresno State.
- The following prerequisite courses must be completed with a letter grade of C or better: ECE 72 , ECE 71 , ECE 85 , ECE 85L , ECE 90 , ECE 90L .
- A maximum of 6 units CSCI courses may be selected as technical area elective (see major requirements).
- Prerequisites: All prerequisites are enforced.
