Other Degree Requirements
In addition to the major program requirements, every student must also complete the University’s baccalaureate degree requirements such as:
- American Government and Institutions (PLSI 2 )
- General Education Requirements (48 units)
- Multicultural and International (MI) - Interior Design majors are exempt from the MI requirement
- Upper-division Writing
- Sufficient Elective Units to Meet Required Total Units (varies); it is recommended that units in this area be utilized to complete a second major or minor.

*General Education, MI, and Upper-division Writing courses can be double counted with major requirements. These courses include ARTH 10 or ARTH 11 , ART 20 , ART 40 , ART 50 (Area C1), ART 13 (Area E). See advisor for details.
Advising Notes
- All courses required for the major must receive a letter grade.
- Student work may be retained for a limited period for display and accreditation visits.
- The upper-division writing skills requirement is met by completing a W course with a letter grade of C or higher, to be taken no sooner than the term in which 60 units are completed.
- The General Education requirement of 48 units may be exceeded depending upon the selection of courses.
- A grade of C or higher in all Interior Design coursework is necessary for successful completion of the major. Any course required as a prerequisite must be completed with grade of C or better before registration in the subsequent course.
