BIOL 154 - Human Genetics
Prerequisite: BIOL 102 with a C grade or better Exploration of the genetic basis of human traits including: complex traits, point mutations, insertions/deletions, microsatellites, mobile elements, structural rearrangements, epigenetics, cytogenetics, pedigree analysis, environmental factors, genetic mapping, and genetic testing. Emphases include human research ethics, the origin of modern humans, the difference between ethnicity and race, interpreting ancestry testing results, inequities in the field of medicine, experimental design, and the application and limitations of experimental techniques.
