MUSIC 187 - American Pop Music

Prerequisite: GE Areas 1A, 1B, 1C, 2 (Foundation) and Area 3 (formerly GE Area C)
A survey of American Popular Music focusing on the history and literature of Country and Western, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Broadway, Tin Pan Alley, Salsa, Musica Norteña, Cajun and Zydeco music. Will also discuss the cultural, musical and historical context of those styles.
