CE 137 - Seismic Design of Building Structures
Prerequisite: CE 130 and ME 112 with a C grade or better. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for building structures, emphasizing earthquake engineering concepts and methods to prepare students for analyzing and designing seismic force-resisting systems (SFRS). Topics include earthquake hazards, lateral load paths, SFRS strength, stiffness, and ductility, single-degree-of-freedom dynamics, response history analysis, elastic response spectra, base shear calculations, and design earthquake spectra.
