CE 156 - Railroad Engineering: An Introduction Prerequisite: CE 20 This course is intended to give engineers a basic working knowledge of railway engineering, so that they can contribute positively to railway projects that they will encounter in their professional careers. It will also lay a foundation, so that students are prepared to take further, more specialized classes regarding railway equipment, infrastructure, and operations. Quantitative analysis of train resistance, such as at the wheel/rail interface followed by the system of railroad track components, roadbed considerations, route design, and track maintenance are covered
